During this morning’s meditation time, I had a mini-epiphany … not all observations need to be recorded. I felt some weight lifted … something about which I didn’t have to worry. Of course part of me piped up its concern with not writing down or sketching the beautiful sunrise colors behind the tree silhouettes. (“What if you forget it?”) I responded that this moment will be remembered. No, I don’t have a photographic memory, but I don’t always need to remember every single nuance. Sometimes just mentally recording the memory is enough … that this morning had beautiful colors, slightly chilly air, and singing and chirping birds. A “snapshot” can be just as valued as more-involved “masterpieces” of your memories.
